Star Wars: Episode 8: 7 Things We Want From The First Trailer

2. A Title Reveal

It's rather strange to think that a simple title reveal could become the biggest piece of movie news in any given year, but when Star Wars is involved, that can easily be the case.

Episode 7's title was revealed as The Force Awakens in 2014, and it sent the Internet into meltdown; theories, speculation and 'here's a better title' discussions ran wild, and it fully re-lit that Star Wars flame that had been extinguished for so long.

If Episode 8 were following Episode 7's marketing schedule to a tee, we'd have the title already, so that's clearly not the case. Lucasfilm and Disney are playing a different game instead, and in all likelihood, they're saving the title reveal for the back-end of the first trailer - and that's a super idea, both for the fans, and for the business.

For starters, dropping any huge Episode 8 news before Christmas would remove the spotlight from Rogue One, which debuts in less than a month. It would also be unwise for the studio to be marketing two films at once; less savvy audience members could get confused between both movies, unclear as to where each takes place and what's going on.

But business aside, a title reveal, from a fan's point of view, would be glorious. What better way to cap off the trailer than with the screen fading to that classic dark background with the stars and Star Wars: *insert title here* popping up on-screen? It would be a pleasant surprise, and if the trailer is light on footage as most teasers are, it would instantly make up for any complaints to that effect.
