Star Wars Episode 9: Everything We Know So Far

1. There'll Almost Certainly Be A Time Jump

The Last Jedi was quite unique among Star Wars episodes, in that it picked up immediately after the preceding movie, whereas all of the others have a time jump of at least a year.

It seems increasingly likely that Episode IX will be reverting to type though, with a time jump heavily teased by actor John Boyega, who told UK Finance:

“I can’t wait to start shooting the next and final leg of the franchise. The first step is growing out my hair, so you can wait for the trailer to see why.”

Judging by Boyega's Instagram he's done a pretty good job of that, and given how much longer it is than in The Last Jedi there's got to be a significant leap. That fits with writing Leia out of the story too, and allowing the Resistance to regroup as well, with some rumours suggesting it'll be as many as five years.
