7. What Is Obi-Wan's Backstory?
Obi-Wan Kenobi only got to stick around in a major role for the course of the original
Star Wars movie, so it's going to be great to see him back in action as the lead protagonist and not moving at a speed best described as "rather slow." Ewan McGregor, the Scottish actor best known for starring in movies like
Trainspotting and
Shallow Grave, has been cast in the iconic role previously adopted by Alec Guinness. We know already, of course, that Obi-Wan was Anakin Skywalker's master prior to his turn to the Dark Side, so it will be interesting to see how they act around one another, especially as this will likely prove to be the "soul" of the movie. Liam Neeson, an Irish actor best known for his role in Steven Spielberg's
Schinder's List, will play a character called "Qui-Gon Jinn," who we're also looking forward to getting to know over the course of this prequel trilogy.
