Star Wars Episode IX: 8 Consequences We'd Like To See With The One-Year Time Jump
3. Finn Torn By The War
While many bemoaned the Canto Bight sequence in Last Jedi, it was the heart and soul of Finn's entire arc in that film. After spending his whole life within the First Order and only viewing the galaxy through their distorted lens, Last Jedi challenged him to come to terms with the fact that the galaxy is a great deal more complicated than he may have initially thought and that just because he'd left the First Order didn't mean the Resistance was all good.
As his conversations with DJ and his final attempt at sacrifice on Crait hinted towards, things are almost certainly only going to get harder for Finn as the trilogy comes to a close. As Luke himself said just as the film cut to a shot of Finn, "the war is just beginning".
Considering that Finn will have now spent a full year fighting the war alongside the Resistance, it would be exceedingly compelling to see what kind of effect it has had on his journey. Whether that all culminates in him sacrificing his life to save others, him discovering further evils of the Resistance, or him leaving the Resistance and the war behind, remains to be seen. But regardless, we can't wait to see what's in store for the resolution of Boyega's arc.
