Star Wars: Episode VIII - 8 Things That Definitely Shouldn't Happen

2. Rey Is Revealed To Be A Skywalker

You know what? Even though it probably makes the most sense for Rey to wind up being a Skywalker family member, given that Star Wars is the continuing saga of one family unit, and that it also makes sense for said revelation to come during the events of Episode VIII, isn't that just a little bit... well, boring? Fans have already surmised that the new trilogy's lead character is almost definitely part of the Skywalker clan, so all the mystery of Rey's heritage has essential been drained out before the movie can even start teasing it. When Darth Vader revealed himself to be Luke's dad in Empire, nobody knew it was coming - that was the genius of it. It came as a complete shocker. If Rey turns out to be Luke's daughter, it won't be a surprise at all. So wouldn't it be more exciting and kind of awesome if it turns out that, hey, Rey isn't related to Luke, and that there's something even more interesting going on? This is sure to be a controversial stance, as many fans are hoping that Rey does turn out to be a Skywalker, but where's the fun in that, really? Wouldn't it be more fascinating for the saga to branch out?
