Star Wars Every Upcoming TV & Film: Everything We Know

6. The Acolyte

The Acolyte stands out among the rest of the upcoming Star Wars slate, as it will explore a mostly uncharted time period in Star Wars history: the High Republic era. Set 200 years before the Skywalker Saga, this era sees the Jedi at the height of their power.

The Acolyte, created by Emmy nominated Russian Doll showrunner Leslye Headland, will apparently retain some of Russian Doll's signature eeriness. Kathleen Kennedy describes the show as a "mystery thriller," with many "shadowy secrets."

Kennedy also teased that the show would take place not just in the High Republic era, but in the final days of the time period. Give that the series will feature an emergence from the Dark Side of the Force, could we see the High Republic come to an end in the Acolyte?

Headland confirmed that her series would take place "in a pocket of the universe and a pocket of the timeline that we don't know much about." Hopefully, The Acolyte clears up some mysteries about the High Republic era, this aforementioned pocket of the timeline, so that other stories from this epoch can be told.
