Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 10 Things Everybody Missed In The Trailer
5. New X-Wings
After countless twists on classic iconography (helmet-less stormtroopers, rolling astromechs), The Force Awakens teaser appears to give something a little more retro - a trio of X-Wings flying along a lake. And while seeing them on screen again certainly invokes some strong memories, these ships aren't the same design as those seen taking on the Empire all those years ago; as suggested from leaked concept art and drone-captured set photos, these are a sleeker version of the iconic craft. The wings are thinner and the central engines are now semi-circles, all together making this design close to that of the Z-95 Headhunter, in-universe the design predecessor to the T-65. There's more superficial differences too - the traditional red stripe has been replaced with blue and the pilot helmets have had a bit of a redesign in the past thirty years - but by far the most remarkable element is this overall update.
