Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 7 Predictions For The Trailer
6. There'll Be No Disney Logo
Yes, Disney brought Lucasfilm two years ago for an eye-watering $4.05 billion. Yes, they're the sole reason we're getting a Star Wars Episode VII. But while they'll distribute the film and foot its hefty production bill, don't expect them to be slapping their logo on the film, or its trailers. Walt Disney Pictures, more than any other film distributor, has a massive reputation. Whereas what a Warner Bros. or Universal movie is pretty undefined, a Disney movie typically fits a certain bill - they're all family, and specially kid, friendly. This has a lot of positives - it serves as a stamp of quality on its animated output - but in terms of resurrecting the Star Wars franchise, something many believe was ruined by going too childish in the prequels, it'd be sending a mixed message. You only need to look at Marvel, another recent Disney acquisition, for proof of this - after the rights left Paramount the superhero movies have only had their own logo before the movie - the Disney connotation is unneeded and could actually prove hurtful. For that matter, there's unlikely to be a Bad Robot (J.J. Abrams' production company) logo either - this film is being made by Lucasfilm after all.
