Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 7 Predictions For The Trailer
5. It'll Be Simple And Nostalgic
To predict the approach of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer the obvious comparison would be to the teasers for the prequels. But it's not as likely we'll be getting something that matches their bombast as it first seem - with over a year until releas, there's not going to be enough effects shots near completion to show much in the way of real spectacle. No, the teaser The Force Awakens will hew closest to is the one for Abrams' other reboot of a beloved sci-fi franchise, Star Trek. Invoking the iconography of the original series and also its importance in popular culture, this minute long piece was just shots of an in-production U.S.S. Enterprise with real-life space exploration comments on top. And it worked brilliantly. Sure, we learnt nothing about the movie (no hint of time-meddling here), but it teased the film brilliantly. Don't expect anything like Jurassic World's smörgåsbord of plot, character and imagery here - this'll be simple and to the point. And that point is nostalgia.
