The newest Star Wars movie, Rogue One, ranks up there with the best and its ending is an absolute barnstormer of emotion and badassery. If you've yet to see the movie, DON'T READ ON. THE SPOILERS ARE STRONG IN THIS ONE.

After the group of rebels band together under the leadership of Jyn in an attempt to retrieve the plans to destroy the Death Star, the final attack on Scarif is an emotional rollercoaster. Besides being a fantastic action sequence, with the classic Star Wars tropes mixed in with a sense of war realism not seen in the other movies, the main characters begin to drop like flies. We really thought at least one or two would make it out alive but director Gareth Edwards goes all out to show the true cost of war.

The final moments of Darth Vader trying to prevent the rebels from escaping with the plans are incredibly dramatic, while the last shot of Princess Leia receiving 'the hope' the rebellion needs is a tremendous ending, setting up the opening scenes of A New Hope. While some may have gripes about the CGI version of young Leia, it shouldn't detract from what is a great conclusion to the movie.
