4. The (Mostly) Fantastic Visuals
Though a lot of fans rightly have taken issue with two certain CGI characters who appear throughout the film, on the whole Rogue One is an absolute visual feast, both in terms of its gorgeous cinematography and the top-notch, Oscar-worthy effects.
Gareth Edwards has made a Star Wars movie that has its own distinct look while still being recognisable as part of the franchise.
The gorgeous tropical planet of Scarif (where the Death Star is being constructed) is a particular standout, looking almost nothing like any other world we've seen in the Star Wars universe to date, and ensures the pic doesn't feel overly bound to a "house style" like, say, so many of the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies do.
