3. She's The Daughter Of A Random Padawan
It appears as if Luke Skywalker has abandoned the rule of only training those who are strong with the Force from birth in the years leading up to the events of The Force Awakens, instead deciding to help anyone who has that connection become a Jedi. As a result, it's feasible that Rey's parents could have been among his recruits, and that Luke took their daughter to Jakku after Kylo Ren slaughtered them and the rest of his new Jedi Order. Fans claim that Rey probably doesn't remember these early years because of the trauma which came from witnessing their murder, and also explains why she saw the scene above play out in her vision. It's a nice idea and would undoubtedly be a cool way of connecting Rey to Luke without going down the route of making them family, but there are ultimately too many plot holes for this to actually make sense. For starters, Rey specifically stated that her parents left her on Jakku and promised to come back for her. If Luke was somehow the one to take her there, why would he abandon the youngster with a glorified slaver? This feels like fans desperately trying to find any sort of connection between Rey and Luke, and while it would undeniably add some more drama to their interactions in Episode VIII, I don't see it playing out that way.
