Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 8 Scenes The Movie Desperately Needed
5. Poe Dameron's Talks About Something Other Than The Plot/Meets Rey
Poe Dameron is a cool character, there's no doubt about that; he's also insanely underdeveloped as an individual and is never given anything to say unless it's a quip or a line of exposition. As a result, you come out of The Force Awakens thinking: "Hey, he could be interesting," but with the sense that he's a rather two-dimensional character. Aside from him being the "best pilot in the galaxy," what do we know about Poe? Zilch, that's what. Which is why it would have been nice to see Poe in a scene that didn't involve him deploying exposition or flying an X-Wing. You know, talking about why and how he joined the Resistance, or how he came to be such a good pilot. There also desperately needed to be a scene where, you know, Rey and Poe meet each other and have a little conversation of some kind. Not off-screen, which is what presumably happened in the context of the film, but properly. Because isn't Poe the third main character? Surely a minute or two could have been dedicated to his meeting Rey?
