7. Maz Kanata

One of two thus far mysteriously shrouded characters, the fully CGI Kanata is an intriguing prospect. She's a space pirate, which immediately gives her a high rating on the cool scale, and even more notably, she's seems to be some sort of grand leader of her pirate people, which makes her a significantly powerful figure. Even if she hasn't got the ability to shoot Force lightning out of her hands, Kanata is seemingly this generation's version of Jabba The Hutt (albeit with slightly more moral ambiguity in place of Jabba's outright villainy). Looking at the concept art that announced her, there's very much a sense that she's an elder sort of figure (even if she's not actually old), and if she's unquestionably in charge of both a giant pirate castle and the rag-tag bunch of aliens we met with the Entertainment Weekly reveal, she's got to be a big deal. There might be a lot of question marks over her, but in logical terms, she has to be a powerful figure to warrant the other cast members even going to see her.
