Star Wars: The Last Jedi - 10 Concerns Raised By The Full Trailer

4. The Ruining Of Poe Dameron

In The Force Awakens, Poe Dameron was the one character who never seemed to find his footing. Played by the brilliant Oscar Isaac, we were all left wondering whether what kind of character he was supposed to be... was he a cool Han Solo type, or just a normal bloke with good flying skills, trying to do his best?

By the end of The Force Awakens, you weren't really able to conjure up much of an opinion on ol' Poe. He didn't have a huge role, and he didn't go through any sort of character development for the sum of the film.

Many fans were hoping Dameron would fall into place as a kind of cocky Han Solo surrogate during the events of The Last Jedi (which is obviously the best way to utilise an endlessly charismatic actor such as Isaac), but going by the new trailer he's been poised as sort of the opposite: a very serious man, deliverer of lines such as, "We are the spark that'll light the fire to bring the First Order down."

Cue a lot of broody shots of Dameron looking concerned. Thing is, Isaac is a brilliant character actor and has played lots of varied individuals over the years. Dameron is his least interesting character to date, and - going by the trailer - the trend looks set to continue as he reprises his role in The Last Jedi.
