Star Wars: The Last Jedi - 10 Ways It Sets Up Episode IX

In the film's closing moments we return to Canto Bight, as the camera focuses on a child - a stablehand who cares for the horse-like Fathiers - pulling a broom to his side using the power of the Force.

This is the most obvious case of sequel-baiting The Last Jedi has to offer, and should Abrams and the rest of the Episode IX crew choose to focus on this boy - whose name is Temiri Blagg - further, there are a ton of potential avenues the sequel could take.

We see Blagg in possession of a ring bearing the Resistance's emblem, so maybe Episode IX will find the boy seeking out Rey, Poe and the other surviving members of the rebellion. The film could also jump ahead a few years to show a slightly older, more powerful Blagg off on his own mission that's separate from the main story.

Or, maybe the boy is only featured here to show that anyone can be a hero, and that hope is slowly spreading throughout the galaxy, which sets up Episode IX - in a less direct fashion - by giving the Resistance more people willing to believe in their cause.

That being said, showing a Force user seems like too big a deal for it to just go ignored, so it's likely Blagg will pop up again, whether in Episode IX, or Rian Johnson's new Star Wars trilogy.
