Star Wars: The Last Jedi - 7 Spoilers That Have Already Been Revealed
1. Leia And Luke Will Reunite (And Share Scenes)
Well, hopefully not that sort of scene.
The Information: It seems like John Boyega unintentionally confirmed that the Skywalker siblings, Luke and Leia, will indeed reunite and share screen time in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
During an interview with THR on their Awards Chatter podcast, Boyega talked about Carrie Fisher's role in the film and how it will pay homage to both her and Mark Hamill - and his comments make it sound like the two will appear in the same scene.
“I think the sendoff is really cool. Even before she passed away, I’d see her in scenes and be like, ‘This is really cool for both Carrie and Mark, who are the last two original leads [alive in the franchise]. I felt like they deserve more and more - they’ve been doing this for a while and have been the beating heart of something special, and I just feel like [The Last Jedi] pays homage to them in general.
Of course, the original "big three" of Luke, Leia and Han Solo did appear in The Force Awakens, but did not all appear in the same scene together. We haven't seen Luke and Leia interact since Return Of The Jedi in 1983, so to see them meet in The Last Jedi is an incredibly exciting proposition.
Why It's A Spoiler: How mind-blowing would this have been if we heard nothing about it until we saw the film? What if the trailers showed us nothing, and it just happened on the big-screen before our very eyes?
In that sense, it's disappointing to hear about this via a throwaway comment from one of the actors involved - a great surprise has been ruined.
And then are the obvious reveals this information brings to light, like the fact that Rey will be successful in persuading Luke to join the Resistance - and given how reluctant to join the fight he seemed in the first trailer, that's a pretty big spoiler.
While some may have already expected the two to share a scene, part of the fun of watching modern Star Wars movies is the fan-service, all the surprising little treats Lucasfilm embed in their movies for long-time fans of the franchise.
They're arguably the most exciting part of each new movie, but now, one of the sweetest treats will feel just a little less special.
