5. Advancing The Mystery

After The Force Awakens, there were lots of questions for the future of Star Wars: who is Snoke? Why is Luke where he is? Is Kylo Ren really a bad guy? Who's Rey's family...?

It could have been pretty easy for Rian Johnson to hand-pick a couple of those questions to answer in Episode VIII rather than pushing his own ideas, but by the look of this trailer, he's far more invested in building up more mysterious mythology.

The question of Luke is even more pertinent (more of which soon), and so too is the mysterious aura around Kylo Ren, Rey and Snoke. The trailer managed to draw those three even closer together while also suggesting that we'll have more questions to face in the very near future. That's good story-telling.
