Inevitably, people will talk about the crimes of trailer spoilers as long as marketing companies keep using key plot details to sell movie tickets. But mercifully, Rian Johnson and the LucasFilm marketing machine have ignored the temptation of stuffing too much detail into the first The Last Jedi trailer.

As already stated, it's more like a mood-board teaser, focusing on establishing tone, atmosphere and spirit, teasing the emotional state of key characters and setting up escalated drama. It succeeds in all of those respects - even if it would have been nice to see a little more in certain respects.

It's also a trailer scrutiniser's dream, as really digging into the shots proves far more insightful than initially seems to be the case - and that sort of added focus is exactly what LucasFilm want to encourage.
