Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker - 10 Reasons To Be Worried

7. J.J. Abrams Actually Finishing A Story

And speaking of unresolved plot threads, here's the man we have to thank for that: J.J. Abrams.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker requires Abrams to do something that he's never done before: finish what he started.

For once, he's expected to provide answers - unlike every major property he's created or worked on.

See, J.J. Abrams loves to start stories, like with Lost, Star Trek, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but finishing them? Not so much.

He co-created Lost with Damon Lindelof and directed the pilot, but that's pretty much where his involvement ended. He left the Star Trek franchise to direct Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and that's where he was going to stop, with Episode VIII helmed by Rian Johnson, and Episode IX by Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow.

Of course, Trevorrow left the film due to "creative differences" (which, after directing The Book of Henry and writing Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, was probably for the best), leading to Abrams being brought back to finish what he started.

Abrams isn't the sole writer of The Rise of Skywalker, but it's still mainly him finishing this story. And with his track record (or rather, lack thereof), that's worrying.
