Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker - 10 Reasons To Be Worried

4. They Didn't Think This Trilogy Through

As annoying as it was that The Last Jedi didn't answer any questions from The Force Awakens, looking back the signs were already there that Disney and Lucasfilm didn't think this trilogy through.

For one, three filmmakers were originally attached to each film without a solid plan for the series in place. They let J.J. Abrams start the story and plant ideas and plot threads which Rian Johnson had the option of exploring in the sequel.

Of course he didn't do that whatsoever, as he was more interested in making a film that would have worked better as a standalone story, than the middle of a trilogy.

Clearly, no one involved knew who Snoke was, nor did they care, so instead of exploring his backstory as this trilogy's big bad, Johnson decided to subvert expectations and kill him off, making yet another throwaway villain. And how did Maz get Luke's lightsaber again? Did they even come up with an answer to that?

Because of this series' lack of planning, it's tough to be too optimistic about The Rise of Skywalker sticking the landing.
