Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker - 12 Biggest Unanswered Questions
6. Is Captain Phasma Really Dead?
Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie) is one of several colossal missed opportunities in the sequel trilogy: an extremely cool-looking antagonist with a perfectly-cast Gwendoline Christie playing the part, and yet, she barely does anything significant across the three films.
For starters, she ends up geeked out and thrown into a trash chute in The Force Awakens, and then gets beaten with relative ease by Finn in The Last Jedi, while her fate has been left hanging in the balance ever since.
The last time we saw Phasma she fell into a fiery abyss with a hole in her helmet, which could plausibly mean she was dead. But we didn't see her categorically die, and many fans assumed she'd make one final return in The Rise of Skywalker for another rematch with Finn.
Sadly it didn't happen, nor was Phasma's demise confirmed, leaving her fate totally up in the air.
John Boyega did "confirm" she was dead at April's Star Wars Celebration, but Boyega hardly speaks for the Star Wars universe as a whole, and as the franchise has taught us so many times, no-one's ever really gone.
Not until we see a body, at least.
