Steve Carrell lends his hand to THE BEAVER

Steve Carell is attached to play a guy who walks around with a beaver puppet on his hand, treating it like a human with sensitive feelings. The movie is THE BEAVER and it's set up at Anonymous Content from first time writer Kyle Killen, a 30ish USC grad whose writing career had built up as far as writing for small time literary magazines before taking a shot at Hollywood. Immediately LARS AND THE REAL GIRL comes to mind but with Carell on board, I would expect a way more out there comedy approach. A director is now being sought after (AUSTIN POWERS and MEET THE PARENTS director Jay Roach was being lined up but that fell through) before the movie will be sold to studio's. The Hollywood Reporter say many studio's are interested because the script is "whimsical and winning". Post-GET SMART, Carell has lined up a nice array of options for what he could work on doing his break from The Office. Expect him to work on two from the following... THE ADVENTURES OF BRIGADIER GERARD, DATE NIGHT, THE BEAVER and of course a sequel to GET SMART.
