Steven Spielberg: EVERY Movie Ranked Worst To Best

17. Empire Of The Sun (1987)

ET The Extra Terrestrial
Warner Bros.

Sporting a mature early performance from future Oscar-winner Christian Bale, Empire of the Sun is one of Spielberg's more underrated but effortless accomplishments. A war movie bursting with stunning action sequences, harrowing revelations and an in-depth look at the true horrors of war through the eyes of a schoolboy.

Empire of the Sun features some of the director's very best sequences, and that, mixed with the heartbreaking story of a boy trying to find his parents in the midst of a warzone, makes it one of Spielberg's best and most effective efforts.
