Suicide Squad: 10 Lessons It Can Learn From Assault On Arkham

6. Kill Someone Early

For a movie that has the word €˜suicide€™ in the title, it seems like a given that there€™s going to be a high death toll. Furthermore, considering David Ayer€™s history and the sort of conflict the team is involved in, it€™s a safe bet that plenty of Squad won€™t make it to the end. But it€™s not just about characters dying, it€™s about how they die. Assault On Arkham did a great job of establishing these grave stakes early. When told of the explosives in their heads that would detonate if they didn€™t participate, KGBeast decided to call Amanda Waller€™s bluff, believing that she wouldn€™t simply execute them. KGBeast was very wrong and before he could even leave the room, his head was gone, and the rest of the team knew not to mess around. Suicide Squad should just adapt that scene straight out of the film, because it's so effective. There€™s plenty of expendable members on the team and someone like Slipknot or El Diablo could easily be killed in the first 10 minutes so that we know the film means business.
