Suicide Squad: 10 Theories About Jared Leto’s Joker
7. Hes The MacGuffin Of The Movie
Heres a theory that, if true, would be a sick joke worthy of the Joker himself. What if, after all this hype and build-up around Letos performance in the film, he actually only pops up at the end? This theory has cropped up a few times online, and it has a certain worrying ring to it. Theres a chance however slim that Suicide Squad Joker could function something like Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. He could be the MacGuffin of the movie, just like Luke was. He could be an elusive master criminal that the Squad have to track down over the course of the entire film. This would explain why his scenes from the trailers have been fairly separate from the rest of the movies core cast (besides Robbie's Harley, as aforementioned) Maybe Harley Quinn breaks off from the main group and finds her Mr J fairly quickly, leaving the rest of the Squad hopelessly searching for the rest of the movie. A manhunt across the DC Extended Universe could be a fun narrative, enabling plenty of cameos and fight scenes, before the Squad finally get him in the end. Maybe the Batman car-chase cameo teased in the trailers will come at the close of the movie, as Gotham's Dark Knight steps in to help the Squad and subsequently tees up a Bats V Joker film a little ways down the road. Keeping the Joker away from the main action would be an interesting story idea, but its hard to image the entire fan-base getting on board with it.
