Suicide Squad: 10 Theories About Jared Leto’s Joker

2. He€™s Actually Already Dead

This theory is a bit of an extension of the previous one. Some theorists believe that that the Joker-starring Harley Quinn origin story torture scenes will all be flashbacks, and that the Joker won€™t actually feature in the main narrative of the film. And there€™s a big reason that, according to the theory: because he€™s dead. This theory would go a long way to answering certain questions that the trailers have left hanging. The two biggest of these are €˜Why is the Joker not in any scenes with the rest of the Squad?€™ and €˜Where does the Batman cameo car-chase fit in?€™ If you buy into the theory, the answers to those are €˜Joker isn€™t with the Squad because he€™s actually dead at the time of the main narrative€™ and €˜the car-chase is one of Harley€™s flashbacks€™. But this theory raises extra questions, too. Who killed the Joker, and why? Did Batman shoulder the blame, and become haunted by the memory of Joker just like in Rocksteady€™s Arkham games? What kind of legacy has the Joker left behind? All of these questions could have really interesting answers, which could be explored in multiple movies. This makes me really want this one to be true, because it'd tee up so much as well as being totally different to all the previous Joker-focused films.
