Suicide Squad: 12 Last Minute Concerns You Won't Admit

3. There's Too Much Special Effects

Similarly with the point about big giant soulless monsters and their well-designed but hollow henchmen, nobody wants to see a film that tries to bedazzle and distract with too many special effects.

Ghostbusters might have had its fans (I wasn't one of them), but the effects in it at times were on a par with Eddie Murphy's Haunted Mansion movie. Glaring, day-glo monstrosities that distracted from core film-making techniques like proper character generation and scripting.

Having seen flashes of the big monster sequences, there is definitely a sense that Suicide Squad could go the same way. It needs to use those effects sparingly and not go to cartoonish on them (yes, I'm aware there's a sorceress and some sort of monster involved, but for me the least grounded in reality characters are the most difficult to care about).
