Suicide Squad 2: 10 Things It Must Do Better Than The Original

6. Flesh Out The Characters' Backstories

With so many characters making their big screen debuts, Suicide Squad had its work cut out making the audience care about all of its players and could have done a better job of this.

El Diablo was given a tragic backstory with pathos while snippets of Deadshot's family life helped humanise the character. Harley and The Joker need no introduction, but the rest of the group could have been fleshed out more effectively.

The groundwork felt rushed. Sure, there were flashbacks for everyone, but often without any real meat or reasons to care about the characters beyond existing comic book fandom.

Suicide Squad 2 presents the opportunity to delve deeper into some of these characters and give them the same treatment as El Diablo and Deadshot. Show the audience how all of these anti-heroes have hardship in their past, and that's the thread which binds them.
