Suicide Squad 2: Casting James Gunn's DCEU Sequel

8. Josh Gad - Penguin

For a while, Josh Gad was very public about his enthusiasm to play the Penguin for Warner Bros at some point and rumour has it he had a conversation with the studio. Whether that would lead to anything concrete in the next few years - or the next few DC projects - is a matter for debate, but it certainly turned thoughts towards him.

He might be something of a surprising choice, given the other suggestions seem to follow the Arkham games' reinvention of him as a gruff gangster type, but Gad has proved himself a great character actor already. He's also got an edge of weirdness that all Batman actors should have and he'd be following Danny DeVito's path of comedy roles to the character, so it's not like there's no precedent to his potential casting.

There's always something more theatrical about comedy actors and when they get pathos, they REALLY get it. So there's every chance he could end up being the best part of this entire thing if it came off.
