Suicide Squad: 6 Things You Missed About Jared Leto's Joker

4. He's Not Actually Part Of The Suicide Squad

A common misconception amongst film-goers who aren't familiar with the original Suicide Squad comics relates to the Joker's status as a member of the titular group: put simply, he isn't one, considered way to unpredictable and dangerous to join the team. And from what information we've gathered so far from various marketing materials (he's missing from the "team photo"), he won't be part of the Suicide Squad in this filmic adaptation either - despite the fact that he has received second billing (Will Smith goes first), and is essentially being promoted as the most exciting thing about the movie in general. Which might seem a little weird if he's not part of the actual squad, right? Why so much emphasis on a character who - generally speaking - isn't even one of the gang? Well, rumour has it that he's the villain of the film - the person that the Suicide Squad are tasked with hunting down for the sum of the movie. This would make sense if the potential breakout scene mentioned previously has the Joker escaping from Arkham Asylum and Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) is thus forced to send the team after him. Considering that Harley Quinn has a sordid history with the Joker, this could all come together for some very interesting (and volatile) scenes indeed.
