God bless Will Smith: he's taken considerably more heat from angry fanboys than anyone else cast in Suicide Squad, with a pretty even spread even after his character was revealed and beyond the release of the trailer. At least Jared Leto's reception has fluctuated wildly: Smith meanwhile seems to be the big "but" for even some of the biggest fans of the film. Inevitably that's inspired some pretty spot on comedy... He's not a bad actor, despite the jibing, and he's not a one note character: it's just Hollywood casts him in films that advance his mythology rather than testing him particularly. Hopefully this performance will redress that somewhat.
