5. Talk To Me

Australian YouTubers Daniel and Michael Philippou - best known for their channel RackaRacka - turn in one hell of a feature debut with Talk to Me.

A young woman, Mia (Sophie Wilde), still grieving her mother's death attends a party where a seance is being conducted, whereby anyone who touches an embalmed hand can make contact with the dead and, if they consent, even let the spirit inhabit their body.

What might sound like a horror-comedy romp on paper is actually an impressively serious-yet-unhinged piece of work, as Mia's attempts to make contact with her mother become increasingly desperate and dangerous.

Sophie Wilde is fantastic in the lead role, which combined with the Philippous' moody and at times intensely violent filmmaking makes for a horror film both ludicrously entertaining and totally haunting.

Talk to Me will release later this year.
