4. Rotting In The Sun

Undoubtedly one of the most insane films to screen at Sundance in recent years, Rotting in the Sun is the latest effort from celebrated Chilean filmmaker Sebastián Silva (The Maid, Crystal Fairy and the Magic Cactus).

In a strange twist, Silva this time stars as a scarcely fictionalised version of himself, who during a bout of severe depression is sent to a nude gay beach to get his head straight.

There he meets influencer Jordan Firstman (also playing himself), but as the pair agree to collaborate on a project together, Silva suddenly vanishes.

It'd be criminal to reveal much more than that, but Silva's film is as hilarious as it is screwed up and unapologetically graphic. Touting more male nudity than perhaps any film in history, Rotting in the Sun willfully pushes the envelope while serving up a genuinely tantalising mystery.

Rotting in the Sun is currently seeking distribution.
