After four seasons on the air, the WB's ongoing story about the early life of Superman finally brought Lois Lane into the fold, where she was played by Canadian actress Erica Durance for the remainder of the series. Brought to the town of Smallville because of untimely the death of her cousin Chloe Sullivan, Lois was thrown right into the middle of the drama and intrigue that surrounded the series. She fit right in, as Durance's terrific comedic timing and straight up acting style allowed her to very easily slip into the cast ranks without feeling forced in. The Smallville version of Lois came equipped with a back story that was already tied to the show's unique mythology, directly connecting her with one of the lead characters on the series. This new development for the character gave Durance a chance to really make her mark, crafting a very unique vision of Lois. She wasn't bound to the comics that came before her, and was able to create a Lois Lane that had never been seen before. Much like Teri Hatcher before her, Durance was able to let Lois feel true to her snarky roots, yet maintain the raw sense of humanity that we know exists inside the character. Though the arc for the character wore thin towards the end of the ninth season, and it felt as though she was meandering instead of having actual character development, Durance made it work. The later seasons gave her somewhat sloppy material to work with, but Durance is a pro, and was still able to see her take on Lois Lane persist for six years and 141 episodes. And now it's time for you to chime in on the comments. Let's hear who your favorite and least favorite version of Lois Lane are, and why.
