Suspiria: Everything You Need To Know About The Three Mothers
1. What It Means For The New Film
Considering that Argento's original Suspiria did not deal heavily with the Three Mothers concept, it was unclear how much of this dense mythology Guadagnino's new film would be tackling. Until recently, that is.
The latest trailer for the film mentions all of the Mothers by name and gives a quick rundown of their respective roles. This seems to be indicating that they each play a crucial part. Towards the end of the trailer, Dakota Johnson's Susie Bannion even says,
"It's all a mess. The one out there, the one in here... and the one that's coming."
The trailer also offers some exceedingly brief glimpses of a couple of monster-ish figures in the dark that look to be early glimpses of not just one but several of the Mothers. Pair all of this information with the fact that the new film is nearly three hours long, over an hour longer than any of the original films, and Guadagnino's film looks primed to tackle this mythology in its entirety.
Which is absolutely bonkers.
