3. Mary Poppins
When films are remade successfully it is because the message needs to be refreshed for a new generation. So, in that spirit, there is no need to mess with a film that is still as relevant and important today as it ever was. Yes, financial institutions are to blame for the worlds ills. Yes, women are still fighting for better representation. Yes, kids need order and discipline in their life. Instead of remaking Mary Poppins, just stick the DVD on, sing along to the greatest collection of songs ever and fall in love with Julie Andrews performance all over again. Even Dick Van Dyke is a joy, once you get past the accent of course. Practically perfect in every way, so leave well alone and just imagine how annoying a remake with Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor would be.
