Terminator 5: 10 Ways To Make The New Trilogy Work

6. Devote An Entire Film To The Future War

Terminator 2 Some of the best scenes in the first two Terminator films were the depictions of the future war between the resistance and Skynet, ambitiously-directed set-pieces full of flying machines, bright lasers, and awesome explosions. They gave us a sure appetite to see more, and when Terminator Salvation was announced, the hope was that, given its setting in 2018, it would be all about this war between man and machine. The result? Not so much. Salvation got bogged down in too many other ideas and wasn't what it should have been - a war movie. If T5 is set entirely in the past, then make T6 the Saving Private Ryan of Terminator movies; it should be all about how this war unfolds, with at least a $150 million budget, and likable characters playing a gang of human resistance fighters. This is what Terminator fans have been craving ever since we first saw that opening battle scene in T2; now, just give it to us!
