Terminator Genisys: 10 Iconic Moments It Must Revisit
10. Man Vs Machines
The story of how James Cameron came up with the concept of The Terminator has long since passed into movie folklore. The fledgling filmmaker had been removed from the directors chair on Piranha II: The Spawning but remained on board to assist with the shooting and editing. Cameron suffered a bout of food poisoning in Rome, which brought on a nightmare featuring a metallic torso emerging from flames, sparking his imagination and a new screenplay idea. The Terminator mostly takes place in 1984 as it follows Sarah Connor and her protector Kyle Reese on the run from Arnold Schwarzeneggers hellish cyborg, but the movie opens with a shot of Los Angeles in 2029 a war-torn, post-apocalyptic future where mankind has become an endangered species. Later in the film there's more glimpses of this grim future through flashbacks, and the first scene of Terminator 2: Judgment Day shows John Connor overseeing a full-scale battle between the human survivors and sentient machines. As such, it was to be expected that the Genisys trailer would revisit the world that formed the backdrop for the ill-fated Terminator Salvation, and it looks like the future will feature heavily in the latest sequel. Expect to see several nods to Camerons early work, including HKs (Hunter-Killers) patrolling the land and skies, human skulls crunched under caterpillar tracks and, in all likelihood, an Alsatian or two for alerting survivors to the presence of their enemies.
I watch movies and I watch sport. I also watch movies about sport, and if there were a sport about movies I'd watch that too. The internet was the closest thing I could find.
