Marvel ComicsThanos has the very esoteric ability to both project energy from his body and manipulate various forms of external matter and energies. In terms of his matter manipulation abilities, the best example would be when Skragg - a Skrull warrior - went up against him and was turned to stone by the Mad Titan, resulting in his death. Regarding his energy manipulation, he can fire energy from places like his eyes and hands as pure concussive force, magnetic energy, disruptor energy or infra-red heat energy and he can turn energy fired by his opponents right back at them. As a result of his ability to manipulate energy, Thanos can also erect shields of pure energy to protect himself. This should serve as a warning to the likes of Iron Man and Thor who, if they were to shoot repulsor beams or lightning towards Thanos, can expect their own offensive energies to be used directly against them.
