Biggest Box Office Success Story - Pitch Perfect 2
Although Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been destroying box office records left and right during its first couple of weeks in theaters, everybody knew that the sci-fi blockbuster was going to be a monster. After all, it was the one of the most (if not the most) highly-anticipated movies of the 21st Century, backed by a fanbase that's been constantly growing for almost 40 years. The original Pitch Perfect was a solid financial success when it was released in 2012, and in the years since its reputation only grew on home video. However, this year's sequel officially took the a-capella series to blockbuster status. Pitch Perfect 2 opened to an incredible $69.2m at the domestic box office, more than the first movie made in its entire run. Finishing with a worldwide total of $287.1m on a budget of just $29m, the continued adventures of the Barden Bellas comfortably earned more money than big-budget offerings like Pixels, Tomorrowland, and even Pixar's The Good Dinosaur.
I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
