The Avengers Vs. Avengers: Infinity War - Which Is Better?

5. Action Sequences

Though The Avengers is immediately held back by Whedon's weaker direction and the generally less-interesting visuals, it did nevertheless serve up plenty of scintillating action. The opening car chase is an absolute mess, but the film follows up with a number of highly entertaining beats, namely anything involving The Hulk and the suitably overblown final battle.

Infinity War is insanely action-packed and benefits the most from both its variety and finally delivering on the long-awaited arrival of Thanos. The Infinity Stones simply give the Russos so much more to work with, and they do a great job balancing all the power sets while giving each hero (and villain) their moment to shine.

Winner: The MCU is still waiting for something to topple Civil War's delirious airport fight, but Infinity War came close with The Avengers' desperate battle against Thanos. Both movies struggle through generic fights against faceless CGI enemies, but Infinity War keeps it to a far smarter minimum.
