The Batman: 10 Characters The Arkham Asylum TV Show Should Introduce

6. Aaron Cash

The Batman Arkham
DC Comics

Let's be honest, this show needs at least one character we can root for. Who better than the toughest guard in Arkham Asylum?

First introduced in the 2003 graphic novel, Arkham Asylum: Living Hell, Aaron Cash is one the most respected guards employed at Arkham Asylum. An honest man, Cash lost his hand in an incident involving Killer Croc, when the inmate bit it off. To compensate for the loss, Cash replaced his missing hand with a metal hook. Much of the aforementioned graphic novel focuses on the aftermath of this tragedy and Cash's mental state as a result.

Initially, the Arkham Asylum show was slated to be a Gotham City Police Department show focused on a corrupt officer, but was changed when Warner Brothers wanted a morally just protagonist that audiences could root for. This is where Aaron Cash comes in.

As the central protagonist, Cash's unwavering morality and commendable backbone would offer a beacon of hope in the grisly halls of Arkham. Audiences would feel for the guard when his dismemberment occurs, and his journey to overcome this tragedy and remain an admirable man would provide a stark contrast to the prisoners of Arkham.

Although Killer Croc might not fit the vision Matt Reeves has for his universe, a certain inmate introduced in the same graphic novel as Cash could act as an appropriate replacement...
