The Batman Delayed Until October 1, 2021
But there's better news for the long-gestating solo outing for Ezra Miller's Sultan of Speed.
As more and more movie and TV projects continue to be delayed or outright cancelled due to the ongoing global chaos we find ourselves in at the moment, there’s now news on three of Warner Brothers’ DC Comics-driven offerings having their release dates changed.
Courtesy of Variety, The Batman and Shazam! 2 have now seen their release dates pushed back, and The Flash has been brought forward.
News of Matt Reeves’ Robert Pattinson-headlined The Batman being delayed comes as no real surprise, with that film recently having to halt production amidst the current troubles being experienced worldwide. Instead of its original June 25, 2021 release date, that Bat-flick has now been moved to October 1, 2021 – meaning that, yes, the Dark Knight will be on the silver screen just in time for the Halloween season.
Likewise, these same concerns, restrictions, and uncertainty that surround The Batman have affected Shazam! 2. The second outing for Zachary Levi’s Shazam has been shunted back from April 1, 2022 to November 4, 2022, which will come as a huge disappointment for those who enjoyed last year’s Shazam!
While The Batman and Shazam! 2’s release dates have been affected negatively, the change in Warner Bros.’ upcoming slate has meant that the long-gestating solo movie for Ezra Miller’s Scarlet Speedster has actually been brought forward. Rather than the previously announced August 1, 2022 release for the Andy Muschietti-helmed movie, The Flash will now speed to cinemas on June 2, 2022.
These changes comes, of course, on the back of Wonder Woman 1984 already having been pushed back from June 5, 2020 to August 14, 2020. And even then, there are still concerns that Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman sequel will once more have to be moved to a later date.
