The Best Moment Of Every James Bond Film - Ranked
4. Casino Royale: Vesper's Death
Of all the films on this list, Casino Royale was the hardest one to pick the best moment for.
After all, that amazing Madagascar chase scene is possibly the best Bond set-piece ever and the torture scene is unforgettable too, but in the end it's the film's almost-perfect ending which just about takes it.
Casino Royale's third act is pretty uneven but the finale, set in a collapsing Venetian building, is utterly superb. The action sequence set in there is masterful and the death of Vesper Lynd (Eva Green) - one of the very best Bond Girls ever - is completely shattering.
It's an achingly emotional scene which sees Bond lose the woman he loves and the way in which it develops his character and concludes his arc (in Casino Royale) is the best bit of storytelling in Bond history.
It turns the young, vulnerable agent into the cold-hearted, closed-off and untrusting man we've all come to know so well and adds emotional dimensions to Bond's character we've never seen before. As origin stories go, this is complete perfection.
