The Devil All The Time Review: 7 Ups & 3 Downs
4. Tom Holland & Robert Pattinson Steal The Show
It won't surprise many to learn that the movie's easy MVPs are Tom Holland and Robert Pattinson, who while appearing in the film decidedly less than the marketing might have you believe, add yet another exemplary performance to their respective filmographies.
For anyone keen to see Holland explore darker material, this couldn't be much more of a polar tonal opposite to Spider-Man, and he absolutely delivers in the part of a young man seeking vengeance.
As the perverted psychopath Reverend Preston Teagardin, Pattinson is a creepy delight, delivering a performance which tap-dances on the line of overacting yet never quite goes over the edge as to unintentionally amuse.
Like Holland, it's great to see Pattinson playing such a different character to those which populate his filmography, and he absolutely rises to the occasion.
While the film's ensemble focus will probably prevent either actor getting much awards attention for their parts, they're two of the year's stronger performances for sure.
