2. Vader Wasn't Luke's Father
Instead, Luke meets his real father, Anakin, on Dagobah. Obi Wan, communicating with Luke through the Force, calls upon Anakin to talk to Luke and help him complete his training. Anakin tells him about his twin sister, who is also secretly being trained as a Jedi Knight. Anakin then administers the oath of a Jedi Knight to Luke. Ben, Anakin, Luke, and Minch cross lightsabers, and Luke swears to "dedicate my life to the cause of freedom and justice." When Luke battles Vader on Bespin, Vader's simply trying to persuade Luke to join him because he's powerful in the Force, and they would be a powerful duo. No more "ruling the galaxy as father and son." The film simply would not have been the same without the revelation that Vader is in fact Anakin Skywalker. It's heartbreaking, shocking, and downright awesome all at the same time and, as I said earlier, is the most famous movie twist in history. This original script would not only have robbed us of that, but of the father/son conflict in The Return of the Jedi, which is definitely the most interesting plot thread in that film.
