Fantastic Four: 10 Things That Could Save The Reboot
7. Show Us Some Skrull
Doing too much too soon has been a downfall in many a superhero film (Batman and Robin, anyone?). The introduction of several major characters and elements can dilute the story and blur the focus of the film. As the new bedrock for the FF franchise, the reboot will be plenty busy re-telling the origin story and establishing Dr. Doom as the primary antagonist. The Skrull are master imitators, and can convincingly take the form and identities of others. In the comics, it is Reed Richards who discovers a way to detect if someone is a Skrull. Hinting that a secondary or tertiary character may be, in fact, a pointy-eared reptilian extra-terrestrial, would be a great way to build some buzz about the possibility of a Skrull invasion angle in future films. Kl'rt, also known as "Super Skrull", is a Skrull who is artificially augmented with the powers of the Fantastic Four. In the comics, he participates in some epic battles with the FF. Acknowledging the existing of the Skrulls now can pave the way for Kl'rt to pop up later in the series.
