Fantastic Four: 10 Things That Could Save The Reboot

4. Establish A "Big Bad"

One thing to be learned from the Marvel Cinematic Universe is that the threat of a "Big Bad" looming in the distance whets our collective appetites and builds anticipation for what's to come. As Thanos is to the MCU, a large scale baddie in the FF/X-Men universe could anchor a larger, more complex scheme for future films. It's not likely that superhero movies are going to wane in popularity anytime soon. It's best to prepare now. Galactus is an obvious choice. In comics, he debuted in Fantastic Four #44. He made an appearance in the last FF movie. He created the Silver Surfer and has been intertwined with the adventures of the Fantastic Four for nearly fifty years. He is one of the biggest of the big bads. If written well, it's tough to go wrong with Galactus. But... Annihilus is a character with some real promise. In comics, he was born and encounters the Fantastic Four in the Negative Zone. He wields the massively powerful Cosmic Control Rod, is virtually immortal, and leads an army of 200 super powered aliens from the Negative Zone. While not the most well-known of Marvel's rogue's gallery, Annihilus is a natural fit for the rebooted Fantastic Four.
