The Fast & The Furious: Ranking Every Movie From Worst To Best

4. Fast And Furious 6 (2013)

After Fast Five reinvented what the franchise was, Fast And Furious 6 doubled down on what had made it work: the best sub-plot of the entire franchise circled into focus with the return of Letty and Luke Evans' Owen Shaw and his terrorists offered one of the best stories in the series.

Naturally, the idea of family plays a major part too, as Dom tries to remind Letty of who she is, inspiring some of the most heartfelt work of Diesel's performances in this series. That emotion really sells their chemistry, adding another authentic relationship, just as Brian and Mia's coupling did, and establishing how close the franchise was becoming to all-action soap opera (not that the fans hated seeing their favourites getting happy endings).

While the film probably has the most heart of the franchise, its action sequences are typically excellent - and utterly ludicrous in the best way. They aren't quite as loony as they would become, but they were well on the way, and the expansion of The Rock as a key player was definitely a smart move.

For a while there, it looked like Universal had become as tired of the weird, ununiform naming convention of its increasingly popular petrol-head franchise and were sticking to something similar. How naive we were.
